Austin:
My name is Austin. I am a 22 year old drug addict from Monticello, KY. My journey began when I was 10 and smoked weed for the first time. By age 12, I was taking pain pills and Xanax on a regular basis. At age 13, I injected Percocet for the first time, which changed my life forever. At age 16, I was a full blown heroin addict and made my first trip to rehab. After 6 days, I had talked my way out of it. Everything had gotten worse. At age 20, I had another trip to rehab and I ran off after 14 days.
By 21 my family had gotten so tired of me stealing, lying, and overdosing that they strayed away from me and shut me out. Just after New Year's of 2018, my best friend's Mom told me about a program called Isaiah House, but I didn't know how I was going to pay for it.
Thanks to the Patrick Cady Foundation, they made it possible for me to have a second chance at life. I have been clean and sober since April 13, 2018.
