James Spitzig
FOUNDER
Jim was Patrick’s uncle and they were very close. When Patrick made the choice to get clean and move to Los Angeles, Jim welcomed him with open arms. During those formative years, Jim witnessed firsthand all of the positive changes occurring in Patrick which led to him becoming sober and remaining sober for the 5 years they lived together. Jim was an immensely strong influence in shaping Patrick’s pathway to sobriety, and they spent a lot of time talking about changes that needed to occur in the system along with ways to bring about positive, tangible results; especially for economically disparaged young adults in dire need of treatment and residential options.
After suddenly and tragically losing Patrick to a heroin overdose in 2016, Jim became steadfast and tireless in his efforts to bring about change for those battling homelessness and substance addiction. The Patrick Cady Foundation was established to honor Patrick’s life and adhere to his wishes of being proactive in the solution, not the problem of drug culture; and to create a supportive community by providing rehabilitative treatment that ultimately leads to recovery.
